"Virtual Water" Installation Mosaic Raindrops
These mosaic raindrops will be part
of a drought-related installation for a food-related show called "Ingest" at ATHICA. The title refers to the concept of "virtual
water", which is the amount of water required to produce a product from start to finish.

Rain Palace in the Midst of an Epic Drought
Georgia is experiencing one of the worst droughts in recorded history. This rain palace with raindrop domes was created in order to feel less grim about an extended string of beautiful sunny days. Fall 2007.
Vitreous, metallic, iridescent, mirror, and
stained glass; turquoise-gold and silver smalti; imitation pearls. Blue-gray,
yellow, and light green grout.

Radar: Katrina
Based on a radar image of the hurricane, this piece was created for an exhibition entitled "America on the Brink". Summer 2006.
Vitreous, iridescent, and stained glass, with
silver mirror state borders. Grout gradient from gray-white to
dark blue. Turquoise and blue paint-stained frame.

Imbalance
Depicting the mood extremes of bipolar disorder, with fireworks and buzzing bees symbolizing mania, and thunderclouds and moths suggesting depression. The brain imagery is based on PET scans, with greens and blues representing a depressed state, yellow representing normal functioning, and oranges and reds illustrating manic brain activity. Summer 2006.
Vitreous, stained, mirror, and iridescent glass;
ceramic tile.
Red, black, blue, and gray grout.
